Safe Vibration Isolation Solution for Side-by-Side Cabinets with Significant Weight Differences

Three shipboard cabinets installed side by side have significant differences in self-weight (423 kg, 178 kg, and 178 kg respectively). During ship operation, these cabinets are subjected to complex vibration conditions caused by the combined effects of hull motion and engine-induced vibration.

If conventional vibration isolators are selected based only on the individual cabinet weights, the following serious issues may occur:

1. Risk of Collision Between Cabinets

Due to the large difference in cabinet weights, each cabinet will have a different natural frequency after installing vibration isolators. Under ship vibration excitation, the cabinets may respond asynchronously with different vibration amplitudes and phases, resulting in a high risk of mutual collision.

2. Increased Vibration Amplitude

While vibration isolators effectively reduce vibration transmission, they also introduce a flexible connection between the equipment and the ship structure. This flexibility may increase the displacement amplitude under certain operating conditions, further increasing the risk of collision and potentially compromising the safety of internal components.

Therefore, directly installing vibration isolators on each cabinet separately is not a suitable solution.


Vibration Isolation Solution

1. Integrated Structural Design

A high-strength steel support frame is installed beneath the three cabinets. Through rigid connections, the cabinets and the steel frame are combined into a single integrated structure, ensuring overall stability.

2. System-Level Parameter Matching

The total weight and load distribution of the integrated structure are recalculated. Based on the overall dynamic characteristics, the optimal vibration isolator quantity, installation positions, and load capacity are determined.

3. Precise Selection and Layout Optimization

The isolators are arranged according to the calculated mounting positions to ensure uniform load distribution, prevent local overloading, and achieve optimal vibration isolation performance.
