People living in multi-story buildings often encounter a common problem: inadequate sound insulation. In some buildings, everyday activities on upper floors—such as walking, children playing, or moving chairs and stools—can easily generate impact noise that travels through the structure and disturbs occupants below.
This issue is particularly noticeable in residential environments, where repeated impact noise can significantly affect living comfort. While such disturbances may seem minor, long-term exposure often leads to frustration and conflict between neighbors, sometimes escalating into serious disputes. In extreme cases, residents even resort to improvised vibration or noise-generating devices in an attempt to respond to the disturbance, highlighting the severity of the problem.
In reality, this is not an isolated situation but a widespread and long-standing challenge in building design. Floor sound insulation has been a major concern in the construction industry for many years. Although effective solutions exist, factors such as construction cost, structural limitations, and design constraints often result in compromised acoustic performance, leaving many buildings with insufficient impact noise control.
A floating floor sound insulation system offers an effective solution. Simply put, it involves installing an elastic, rubber-based sound-insulating layer on top of the reinforced concrete slab before laying the finished floor. Because sound transmission is most efficient in solid materials, introducing an elastic isolation layer significantly reduces structure-borne sound transmission, thereby greatly enhancing the impact sound insulation performance of the floor system.
